Location, Access, Description

The Black Dog South property consists of 2 mining claims covering an area of 113.11 Ha in Eeyou-Istchee James Bay Territory, Quebec Province, approximately 80 km ESE of Lebel-sur-Quevillon (Qc) and 165 km NE of Val-d’Or (Qc). The claims are now wholly owned by Groupe Minier Windfall Inc., but Globex retains a 2% Gross Metal Royalty (GMR).

The property is accessible via forestry road from Lebel-sur-Quevillon. The south forestry road takes you from L-S-Q over 90 km to 4 km southeast of the property. From this point, the access will be by Argo or VTT. There are many other forestry roads in the area. The town of Lebel-sur-Quevillon can provide remote workers with food and sleep facilities. Shops and contractors are available in Val-D’Or. A Hydro power line crosses the property from northeast to southwest.

Geology and Mineralization

Regional Settings

The Black Dog South Property is located within the Abitibi Subprovince of the Canadian Shield, about 35 km west of the Parautochtone of the Grenville Province. The Abitibi Subprovince is an Archean greenstone belt which hosts some of the richest mineral deposits of the Superior Province.  It is divided into two distinct parts (Chown et al., 1992): the South Volcanic Zone (SVZ) and the North Volcanic Zone (NVZ), separated by the Destor-Porcupine-Manneville fault (Mueller et al., 1996) ; the property lies in the NVZ.

The property is located in the Urban-Barry Belt of the Superior Province. The Urban-Barry Greenstone Belt has an east-west extent of 135 km and is 4 to 20 km wide (El-Rassi et al., 2014). To the north, the belt is bounded by the Urban Deformation Zone and by the Grenville Front to the east. Granitoid rocks are also present at the edge of the Urban-Barry Belt; the Barry Complex is located to the south and the Souart Pluton is present to the west of the belt (El-Rassi et al., 2014).

As for Rhéaume and Bandyayera (2006 – RP2006-08), The stratigraphy of the Urban-Barry Belt shows many similarities with the stratigraphy of Chibougamau (Chown et al., 1998) and Chapais (Charbonneau et al., 1991).

The regional metamorphism is at the greenschist grade. The amphibolite grade is often observed though in the deformation corridor and in the vicinity of the largest intrusions (Joly, 1990).

Property Geology

Informations of the present section are mostly taken from Rhéaume and Bandyayera (2006 – RP2006-08) and Bandyayera et al. (2002 – RG2001-14).

Most of the property is located in the Macho Formation dated at 2,718 Ma (RP2006-08; RG2001-14). The majority (90 %) of the rocks are composed of basalt, andesitic basalt and andesite of transitional arc island. The remaining 10 % of the units are glomeroporphyritic basalt (3%), gabbro (2%), felsic volcanic (< 1%), sediments (< 1%), VMS (< 1%) and metasomatic rocks (< 1%) (RP2006-08). Two (2) separate lithostratigraphic units are present in the Macho Formation; the Windfall Member and the Rouleau Member. The Windfall Member is composed of 1) calco-alcaline dacite, rhyodacite and trachyandesite, 2) tholeiitic felsic volcanic and tuff, 3) subvolcanic quartzo-feldspathic porphyry (QFP) complex and 4) porphyritic andesite, tholeiitic andesitic tuff and iron formation. The Rouleau Member is composed of calc-alkaline to transitional andesitic and basaltic lapilli and block tuff.

Regional Metallogeny

Following both historical work by exploration companies and geological mapping programs of the Quebec Government (RG2001-14), the mineralization styles present in the area of the Black Dog South Property are:

  • Volcanogenic Massive Sulphides (VMS) ;
  • Auriferous volcanogenic veins ;
  • Orogenic gold associated to shear zones ;
  • Au-Cu-Zn mineralization associated with tourmalinized metapelites ;
  • Molybdenum associated with felsic intrusions and pegmatites.

Historical work in this area succeeded in discovering three (3) gold deposits. The  Barry and Gladiator deposits are currently explored by Bonterra Resources. Measured and Indicated Resources of 1,413,000t @ 8.61 g/t Au have been calculated at Gladiator (NI 43-101 Technical Report, June 2021), while Measured and Indicated Resources calculated at Barry are 1,916,000t @ 2.68 g/t Au (same report).

The Windfall deposit is composed of several zones. Infill definition by Groupe Minier Windfall is still under progress. Proven and Probable Reserves of 12.2Mt @ 8.06 g/t Au and 4.18 g/t Ag have been calculated (NI 43-101 Technical Report, January 2023).

Historical Resource (Non NI 43-101 compliant) of 475Kt @ 4.60 g/t Au have been estimated in 1989 on the Souart showing (DP89-09).

Property Mineralization

No metallic showing has ever been identified from past work on the Black Dog South Property, which is curious due to its very favorable geology and location in strike with numerous gold showings and favorable structures.

History

The majority of historical work done in the area was completed northeast of the Black Dog South property in the area of the Nubar and Barry gold showings. Some mapping and geophysical surveys were completed on the property by different mining companies and by the Quebec Government. Historical work of the property is reported as follows :

In 1975, Kenting Earth Sciences limited executed an airborne geophysical survey in the Barry project area for Shell Canada Limited (GM38826). A total of 5,660 km of line was surveyed. The survey outlined conductors and magnetic anomalies. The actually Black Dog South property shows only a magnetic NE horizon.

In 1986, H.Ferderber Geophysics executed an airborne magnetic and electromagnetic (VLF) survey for Golden Harvest Explorations Inc. (GM44216). Conductors were detected in the actually Black Dog South property. Some conductors are reported to be along the same trend and in the same rock unit hosting the Nubar old gold prospect.

In 1987, Supervision Geo-X Inc. executed a magnetic, an electromagnetic (VLF) and a geochemical humus surveys on the Souart property of World Wise Resources Inc. Four (4) VLF conductors axis were obtained on the Black Dog South property. The same year CCI surveys Inc. executed magnetic and electromagnetic-VLF surveys for Resources Onyx Ltd. on the Souart property. Nine (9) of the VLF anomalies from this survey are located on the Black Dog South property (GM44345).

In 1988, Entreprises minières Dig inc. executed mapping and sampling and Sagax executed an induced polarization (I.P) survey on the Souart property for Resources Onyx Inc. (GM47893). The survey covered the northern part of the Black Dog South property and an NE magnetic axe crosses the property. Three (3) I.P NE to ENE axis are located on both sides of the actual Black Dog South property (GM47894).

In 1993, Geonex Aerodat Inc. executed Combined Helicopter-borne electromagnetic, magnetic, radiometric and VLF-EM survey for Aur Resources Inc. (GM52440). This survey overflew the south part of the Black Dog South property. A high magnetic NE horizon was detected, but no conductor was identified.

In 1996, Exploration JBR Enr., executed a magnetic and electromagnetic (VLF-EM) survey for Golden Tag Resources Ltd. on the Macho South Property. Two (2) weak conductors probably associated with a late stage cross-fault are present south of the property (GM54378).

Exploration works in the area were then concentrated on the Barry, Windfall and Gladiator projects.

In 2018, Globex has written a compilation of historical data for the Black Dog South Property (GM70916).

Groupe Minier Windfall Inc. acquired the claims from Globex in August, 2020. Please refer to the Company’s website and Press Releases to verify the exploration work they have undertaken.

Resources and Potential

The Black Dog South property is located in an auriferous favorable geological and structural environment. The property seems to be indeed located on the same mineralized trend than the Barry and Windfall advanced gold projects.

On the geophysical compilation (map above), gold deposits of the area appear to be systematically located near ENE- to NE-oriented faults associated with concordant moderate to strong magnetic trends. Two occurrences of such a combination of a ENE- to NE-oriented fault with a geophysical trend crosses the Black Dog South property ; it is associated with a series of Au and Zn showings between 1.6 km and 9 km northeast of the property, amongst which are present the Black Dog and Souart Au showings.

Several EM-VLF conductors were also highlighted on the Black Dog South Property by historical work. Additional prospection and sampling as well as new ground IP and magnetic surveys are therefore recommended on the property.

No historical DDH had been implanted on the Black Dog South property prior to the acquisition of the claims by Groupe Minier Windfall.
