Location, Access, Description

The Venus Gold Zone property is located approximately 40 kilometers north of the city of Val d’Or and 6.5 km W-NW of the small town of Barraute. The property is composed of 18 contiguous mining claims totalling 765.70 ha in Barraute township (NTS 32C05). These titles are fully owned by Globex.
An all-weather gravel road gives access to the mine site and the Canadian National Railroad (CNR) crosses the property very close to the mine site. Electric power is available from Barraute along the railroad, or 3.0 km NE from and established transmission line.  Adequate water for surface and underground exploration / development is available from a creek just south west of the present mine workings.

Geology and Mineralization

Geology
The geology of the property is characterized by mafic volcanics and felsic fragmental which are part of the Kinojevis Group, a litho-stratigraphic unit comprising mafic and felsic volcanics along with fragmental rocks; felsic porphyry dykes also intrude these geological formations.

Alteration
The mafic volcanics are usually chloritized and the fragmentals are sericitized.  Carbonate and chloritic alteration intensifies close to mineralized zones within mafic volcanics whereas halos of sericite and silica alteration are present around mineralized veins within felsic fragmental.

Structure
Three main shears have been defined by the work of ARBOR Resources & KANGELD Resources; the “Footwall shear”, the “Central Shear” and the “Hanging Wall shear” which are fairly parallel to the local stratigraphy. These shears vary from 10.0 m to 60.0 m in width.

Mineralization
Two parallel and mineralized structures (Veins 8 & 10) are defined on the property; Vein # 10 is located south of the railroad and Vein #8 north of the railroad.   These veins are oriented roughly 120° with an average dip of 50° to 60° to the NE.  The gold mineralization is directly associated to these quartz – carbonate +/- tourmaline veins hosted within corridors of highly sheared mafic volcanics.

The sulphide present within the veins is largely pyrite (locally large cubes) with minor chalcopyrite. Free gold is locally noticeable on the pyrite faces as a thin sheet. Minor disseminated pyrite (up to 5%) is also present within wall rock.

Based on previous surface drilling, Vein # 10, to the south of the railroad, was judged to be the most promising, as it carries the most gold intersections.  Vein #10 structure is located between the “Footwall” and “Central” shears. From underground exploration, further detailed information has been collected on the Vein #10; the host rock consists of a 22 m thick sequence of mafic flows and tuffs with minor felsic fragmental layers.  So far the gold mineralization of economic interest is present within fifteen (15) FLAT to slightly dipping (NE) quartz-tourmaline-carbonate-pyrite veins and their associated silicified and sericitized alteration halos (Davis, 1987).  An additional ten (10) sub-economic gold-bearing veins have also been located within a 165 meter long corridor plunging to the east (E) within the Vein #10 structure.

The #10 vein structure has been defined to a depth of 175 m. Numerous quartz – tourmaline-chlorite-carbonate veins were intersected in drilling.  These veins are irregular, discontinuous and appear to occupy tension fractures within the #10 vein structure.  The gold mineralization is always present within the veins or immediately adjacent to the veins.  Better gold grade (and visible gold) is directly associated to greater (> 3%) pyrite content.

A fairly typical section of the # 10 vein structure is well described within Davis’s 1987 report.

“Chip samples along the 70m drift were completed.  The locations and results of the sampling are contained in Appendix D.  The gold mineralization was found to be sporadically distributed throughout the 70m drift. The north wall contained a 24 m long mineralized flat to slightly north dipping quartz vein grading 10.19 g/t Au over an average width of 0.64 m, and a 4.20m long section grading 17.91 g/t Au over an average thickness of 0.41 m.  The south wall contained a 9.50m long mineralized quartz vein (correspond to the north wall 24m long vein) grading 16.21 g/t Au over an average width of 0.54 m.  Combining the north and south wall intersections, the major gold bearing quartz vein averages 16.75m long and grades 12.94 g/t Au across an average width of 0.59m.  This mineralized flat vein would appear to have a strike length of 16.75m, a thickness of 0.59m with a lateral extent of approximately 20m.  This gold bearing vein is representative of the type of mineralization within the No 10 Vein structure.

A 2,083 tonnes (2296.11 tons) bulk sample from the 70m drift was processed in 1986. Preliminary sampling in the 70m drift suggested that the sample would assay approximately 5.14 g/t Au (0.15 opt Au).  The assay at the crusher was 2.08 g/t Au and the calculated assay after the milling were 1.99 g/t Au.  The reason for the decrease in grade was the amount of dilution included within the bulk sample.  A recovery of only 74% was achieved but is not indicative of the recovery on the Barexor ore.

The Vein #8 structure, located to the north of the railroad, is located between the Central and Hanging wall shears.  It consists of a 30 to 45 m wide sequence of mafic flows and tuffs along with minor felsic layers (flows and fragmental).  No significant gold intersections were returned from surface drilling.

History

1925 – Original discovery in the area by E.  Foisie (South Venus shaft range II lot 13)
1927 – “Mine d’Or Venus Limitée” completed stripping and trenching on Vein #8 & Vein #10
1929-1930 – A two compartment vertical shaft was sunk to a depth of 67 m (220 feet).  On – the 60 m level (200 feet) 256m (840 feet) of cross cutting and 174 m (570 feet) of drifting were completed along the Vein # 8 and Vein #10
1931 – Sinking of an inclined winze (-55° to -60°) from the 60 m level  with 25 m (82 feet) of drifting along Vein #10.  Stoping and raising from the 60 m were also initiated.  A 25 ton test mill was constructed.  Approximately 700 tons of mineralized ore was processed at the mill.  Records indicate that 6,020 lbs of concentrate grading 2.82 oz per ton were shipped to Noranda smelter (Husson, 1895)
1932-1933 – Work suspended early 1932.  Property re-evaluated by Randall Mines Cirp. Ltd
1934 – Shaft dewatered and limited underground drilling completed. No results available
1935-1945 – Property dormant
1945 – Bar-Lan Gold Mines acquires the property
1946 – Bar-Lan Gold Mines completed 12 surface drill holes (BL-1 to BL-12) totalling 638.6 m (2,095 feet) to evaluate Vein #10
1947 – Further diamond drilling on both #8 and #10 veins.  DDH BL-13 to BL-24 were completed for a total of 933.5 m (3,062.5 linear feet).  Mag survey and geological mapping was also completed.
1948-1949 – Property dormant
1951 – Electrical Resistivity survey completed by Geotechnical Development Co ltd.
1952-1957 – Property dormant
1958 – Re-evaluation of the property by Gibson Mines Ltd.
1959-1962 – Property dormant
1963 – Geological survey by R. Doig
1964-1969 – Property dormant
1970 – Airborne EM and magnetic surveys completed over Barraute Township by Quebec Uranium Mining Corporation for Central Mining Corporation, some of the anomalies investigated on the ground.
1971-1978 – No work done
1979 – Barraute Mining acquired the mining rights in a large area and optioned the shaft to East Coast Pipeline.  Old trenches were cleaned up, re-sampled and re-mapped.
1980 – Surface sampling by M Berube and Riocanex
1981 – No work done
1982 – Len Mines Chabela Ltée optioned the property from East Coast Pipeline and conducted limited surface work (C. Larouche, geologist).  Trenches were re-sampled and 8 short surface diamond drill holes were completed (CB82-01 to CB83-8) for a total of 154.5 m (507 linear feet).
1983 – The property was acquired by Barexor Minerals Inc. Additional drilling (BB-83-1 to BB83-8) was completed for a total of 192.3 m (631 feet) (C. Larouche geologist). A 38 m (125 feet) ramp along the #10 Vein structure was driven (C. Larouche) sampled and mapped.  A 1,050 tons bulk sample was collected from the ramp advance and trucked to Virginia Town (Ontario) for processing. An average grade of 0.056 opt (2.0 g/t) was recovered.
1984 – Barexor Minerals completed magnetic and VLF-Em survey on the property.  DDH BB84-1 to BB84-24, totalling 3,076.83 m (10,094.6 feet) were completed in order to investigate the extensions of #8 and #10 veins structure. Limited Induced Polarization survey was also completed to prioritized VLF anomalies and test the known mineralized zones.
1985 – Barexor Minerals Inc. completed 33 underground diamond drill holes for a total of 1,369.8m (4,494 feet) on the 60 m level.  The drilling investigated the #10 structure for flat lying quartz veins developed between two zones of shearing. Downdip and downplunge drill holes 200-29 and 200-32 yielded very favourable results.

A joint venture agreement between Minerais Barexor and Arbor Resources + Kangeld Resources Ltd, two companies of the Hughes-Lang Group, was finalized.  Bernard Husson & Associates re-evaluated the mineral potential of the Barexor property.

1986 – Surface trenching, blasting mapping and sampling was completed on the Vein #8 structure, located about 10 m north of the railroad.  The outcrop was cleared of overburden for a length of 90.0 m.  Abundant veining was exposed for most of the length. The outcrop was mapped and chip-sampled. A total of seventy four (74) vertical blast holes 15 feet deep, were drilled and blasted in 3 separate sequences.  Approximately 1,100 tonnes of rock was blasted and separated into different piles depending on the pyrite content. The blasting revealed that the quartz veins become significantly smaller and discontinuous with depth (4.0 m).  Significant pyrite mineralization continues with depth but not to the degree observed at surface. One 25 m long quartz-tourmaline-carbonate vein contains significant gold mineralization (6.33 g/t Au over a 0.80 m width).

During the same period a total of 31 surface diamond drill holes (3,835.1 m / 12,582.2 feet) were completed in the immediate vicinity of the underground exploration site to investigate #10 and #8 veins structures.

GM-45164 (1987)

This report, completed by C.R. Davis, and accompanying maps summarized the work completed in 1986 by ARBOR Resources & KANGELD Resources on the Minerais Berexor property.  The work has been completed by “Cie de Gestion Min Louvicourt”. The work was focussed on Vein # 10. A series of sections along with a longitudinal section, a level plan (100 m) and a location map have been drafted at a metric scale of 1 = 250.

The ramp (4.0 m X 3.5 m) was also advanced an additional 459.3 m, security bays and mucking bays were also completed. A 2.9 m “winze” connected the ramp with the old underground workings.  Drifting and raising were also completed.

Additional work was completed in 1987 by Arbor Resources and Kangeld Resources on the Barexor joint venture.  Four (4) surface drill holes for a total of 1,149.1 m were completed to investigate the downplunge to the east of Vein structure #10.

Resources / Potential

Resource Estimates

An historical resources estimate has been completed on the fifteen (15) better mineralized veins hosted within the Vein #10 structure, following the 1986 underground exploration program.

An in-situ non-diluted tonnage of 29,700 tonnes grading 10.12 g/t Au has been published (GM-45164) in 1987. This estimate has been completed using the following parameters: -) maximal lateral extent of quartz veins fixed at 5.0 m; -) grade of section where visible gold is present has been divided by 5; -) the estimate has been completed using a cut-off grade of 4.00 g/t and a minimum width of 1.5 m; where needed narrow sections have been diluted with 0.30 g/t Au to obtain a 1.5 m width.

Recommendations

Surface and underground drilling have been recommended in order to increase tonnage on the Vein #10 structure. Gold is quite erratic on the property (strong nugget effect).
